Book Review: “A Good Life” By Ben Bradlee (1996, 512 Pages)
A good book.
Ben Bradlee was the executive editor of The Washington Post from 1968 to 1991.
While not particularly well-written stylistically, his memoirs are a great read for anyone interested in the fourth estate.
I found the relation of Bradlee’s friendship with JFK – and its consequences on his journalistic work – more interesting than the chapters dedicated to Watergate. IMHO “Personal History” by Katharine Graham is better in this regard.
But “A Good Life” is sometimes funny, often candid, and always interesting.
RATING: B.
