Book Review: “Lion Of Hollywood: The Life And Legend Of Louis B. Mayer” By Scott Eyman (2005, 608 Pages)
A book about the entertainment industry which is all but entertaining.
Scott Eyman is a literary critic and Hollywood historian. His book is the most boring one I have read in the recent past.
It’s a minute-by-minute account of Louis B. Mayer’s life which misses all that you can expect from such a great subject: Description of what life in Hollywood was like at Mayer’s time, insights on the financial and political aspects of MGM’s evolution across several decades, lessons on the movie business…
This book misses the global picture for the sake of adding details to the picture.
