The Only Thing That Will Always Depend On You
Your ability to decide quickly.
I recently came across this great quote from Abraham Lincoln: “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle“.

I really like this sentence because I am a strong advocate of speed in management. This applies to favorable situations and crises.
In favorable situations, you should seize opportunities as soon as possible before your competitors take advantage of them. In a crisis, any delay in making a decision only lets the situation get worse. In both cases, a decision that has been delayed will be more costly in financial, human and operational terms.
Of course, deciding quickly involves taking risks. But the greatest risk is to do nothing and let others decide for you. Whereas speed is synonymous with initiative, hesitation is synonymous with fatalism.
That’s why, in my opinion, speeding in management isn’t wrongful.
