Book Review: “Doing Justice: A Prosecutor’s Thoughts On Crime, Punishment, And The Rule Of Law” By Preet Bharara (368 Pages, 2019)
Doing justice to this book is buying it.
Preet Bharara is the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York – he was fired by Donald Trump. He now teaches law at New York University and moderates two podcasts.
In “Doing Justice,” he relates his experience as district attorney and presents his views on justice.
This book is not a memoir – it is much more than that. Preet Bharara recounts cases that he and his team prosecuted and uses them to explain how the law can better our Society. He doesn’t shy away from covering his failures as district attorney.
Readers will find in his book what makes Preet Bharara one of the very best pundits on television and in his podcasts. He is an exceptionally clear thinker and explains the most complex issues in a conversational tone. Last but not least, his sense of humor is always enjoyable.
RATING: A.
